Spotify currently allows users to download songs, albums, and playlists for offline listening. However, manually selecting each item can be a hassle, leading to the risk of forgetting to save your favorite music. To address this issue, Spotify is testing a new feature called “Your Offline Mix.” In a tweet, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek explained that this feature aims to “save a mix of your recently played songs for when the vibe is high, but your connection is low.”

This functionality bears similarities to YouTube’s Offline Mixtape feature, which was introduced in 2019. At that time, we described it as “Smart Downloads,” where selected favorite songs would be automatically downloaded for anytime access. Spotify’s feature appears to work similarly, automatically downloading frequently listened-to songs and other content.

While the feature is currently in the testing phase, some users mentioned on Ek’s Twitter post that they have already observed it in their apps. Interestingly, one user revealed that they had only downloaded 10 percent of the songs in their mix. Additionally, a screenshot displayed an offline mix lasting over three-and-a-half hours, indicating that it can accommodate a substantial number of songs. This makes it a valuable tool for situations like traveling or being in a remote location where you require entertainment, whether it’s a little or a large selection.
